I have been doing music my whole life.  I started organ lessons when I was in Grade 4.  The next year I played an old pump organ for the Sunday School.  The year after that I was playing organ in church regularly.

I would often get up in the mornings (like on Saturday or summer holidays) and play the organ for hours.  The family would all go out and do things outside—no doubt not wanting to discourage me, but also tired of listening to me.  One summer day I was playing the organ and singing along and my mother came into the room, and in total surprise said:  “You can sing!”  That was the summer following Grade 10 in school.  In autumn a singing teacher came to town and I became one of her students.

When I was in Grade 10 I started guitar lessons. When I was in Grade 12, I started to write songs.  The rest as they say is history.  I never stopped learning or performing music and my skills grew.

My musical accomplishments:

choir director
organist and pianist
recording artist
performer and soloist
organ teacher
piano teacher
voice teacher
songwriting teacher

I presently teach music – keyboards, voice and songwriting and I still perform now and again.  You can reach me on my cell at 204-895-9953.  I am presently living in Fort Simpson, NT, Canada.

I love this post. I am a big ole bookworm, but I haven’t alayws been one. I had trouble learning to read, when finally a teacher took extra time to help me learn. My Mom likes to say that I struggled a lot to read at first but once I learned they could never get me to stop. The Teacher that took that extra time to help me is still my absolute favorite and at 25 I still like to pop in and say hello. He is the Superintendent of our district these days.
